Your outdoor doormats work hard: facing muddy boots, paws, pouring rain, and everything in between. But with just a little regular care, you can keep it looking sharp and working effectively for years to come. Whether you’re using our outdoor mats in your home, outdoors, or in a commercial space, keeping them clean is essential to maintain their appearance and functionality.
Shake or Brush Weekly
Whether you’ve got a coir or PVC outdoor doormat, a weekly shake-out or sweep is essential. For our outdoor mats, a simple shake usually does the trick due to it’s unique texture.
Hose It Down
Our unique outdoor mats are waterproof as they’re made from PVC, so a monthly hose-down keeps them looking brand new. Let them drip-dry naturally (ideally propped up vertically). The design of our outdoor mats allows water to flow through the matting, carrying away dirt, dust, and other particles.
Deep Clean
For any stubborn stains or spills on your outdoor mat, spot cleaning is the way to go. Prepare a mild cleaning solution of warm water and gentle detergent, and apply it to the affected area using a sponge or brush. Gently scrub in circular motions until it begins to lift. Make sure to rinse the area thoroughly with water to remove residue. It’s important to avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the surface/design of the mat.
Store in Harsh Weather
In winter or heavy storms, storing your mat in a dry spot can extend its lifespan – this is particularly true for coir mats, which don’t like excessive water exposure. Our recycled-PVC noodle mats are hardier and great in all seasons, but storing them still helps preserve colour vibrancy.
Rotate Regularly
Give your mat a break from direct sunlight by rotating it occasionally if the pattern allows – this prevents uneven fading and wear.
With just a little regular upkeep, your outdoor doormat can stay looking great and working hard all year long. Whether you’re battling muddy boots or keeping paws in check, a clean, well-maintained mat makes a big difference—both for your home’s appearance and cleanliness. A few minutes of care now will keep your mat fresh, functional, and fabulous for seasons to come.
